Open OLTP News
As an independent and small operation we (OK, I) have had to explain OLTP things in fairly simple terms to a number of people (as we generally get work from larger companies). A number of people have made us mindful that not everybody is imbued with the clarity of vision that makes you realise that OLTP is one of the most important aspects of computing, if not life in general. Although they shall remain nameless they did however inspire a short paper that could be easily sent to them when they asked "what is OLTP?" Being a small outfit this was written in our own time but on their computers in the evening when the more serious work was done.

The small beginning was latterly embellished and html-ized at J.P.Morgan and turned into the executive summary. Then it was decided that this was good and other papers should be written, so the site grew at the rate of about 500 words a week whilest at IBM. I'm grateful to both these companies for allowing these out of hours efforts, you should buy all your merchant banking and computers from them (OK, some of it, anyhow).
Thanks too to all the people who reviewed stuff and asked the initial Mr. OLTP Questions.
